I set up Cell Pack Solutions as a sole trader in November 1998, having spent the previous 12 years working in the battery industry in various technical selling roles. Like many people I eventually got to the point in life where I wanted to have a go at working for myself. So armed with a little saved money, a lot of help from friends and family (for which I am eternally grateful), a driving ambition to succeed and an equally strong fear of failure, I took the plunge and resigned from a good but not very satisfying job. Working for yourself has many advantages and disadvantages and my advice to anyone is that if you feel strongly enough about it then go for it but be sure you really like the subject of your venture, because it will take a lot of your time and effort, probably more than you might think. Those that have met me will know that I love what I do and will help anyone within my scope.
Our company has progressed very well over the last 13 years, we became limited in March 2001, currently employ 20 people and we have now moved four times each time expanding our workspace. We have been lucky enough to pick up couple of local business awards and were short listed in the 2002 and 2004 E-Commerce Awards for our region, achievements we are proud of. We won an award for our use of IT an Technology in 2005 and then followed this up with the 2005 Regional Winner (North East Chamber of Commerce) - Microsoft Award for Innovation Through Technology. 2010 was our most successful year to date, we won a number of local business awards and was extremely proud that we were chosen as the Company of the Year in South Tyneside.
I believe that is important to enter these types of awards, they give you the opportunity to examine your processes and get benchmarked against other companies. We also achieved the ISO 9001:2008 Certificate (Quality Status) in 2004 and recently upgraded this to the more recent 2009 version. We also achieved the ISO 14001:2004 Certificate (Environmental Standard) in July 2010. These achievements are a reflection of the great teamwork that is needed with a successful company.
To achieve all this we have had to satisfy many customers and we hope to continue to do this for many years to come.
